I had to share this with you. When you receive testimonials like these, it is not about singing my praises or about me. This testimonial speaks about the changes made by an individual (or in this case, two individuals). It gives me joy to share this; it gives me encouragement and continues to inspire me.
My daughter saw Nadine for 10 months when she was at her lowest and at a time when I recognised that there was no failure in seeking the extra support. My daughter would not have flourished and regained her confidence on how to live and cope with unfortunate events that life can bring without the professional skills as a therapist that Nadine was able to demonstrate throughout her sessions with my daughter.
My children and I had suffered significant trauma over the years. A current theme of our darkest days was my diagnosis of breast cancer and the daunting realisation and fear of the unknown that haunted my daughter from moving on in her life. She was frightened and very depressed with the thought of losing me. The help my daughter needed was bigger than anything I could cope with on my own.
Nadine allowed my daughter to honour her existence, honour who she is and a right to have a voice in a safe place
Nadine used a range of techniques that allowed my daughter to express herself in her own time and in a way that was comfortable for her. The tools and strategies used by Nadine allowed my daughter to honour her existence, honour who she is and a right to have a voice in a safe place and how to use her voice in a way she can be heard in all arenas with confidence. It was a difficult process that she needed to work through. My daughter did this healing for some weeks in silence, with tears, laughter and verbally.
When the pain was too great the feelings were creatively drawn out and explored.
My daughter was asked to draw what she was thinking and feeling. Nadine would ask her to explain what the drawing symbolised for her and worked with that in a way my daughter could understand. The process was later shared with my daughter’s permission for me to attend a couple sessions for Nadine to explore further the scenes/timelines of the events that were significant and which created so much sadness for my daughter. The sessions were very powerful and Nadine was able to work at my daughters pace and at her level. There was time to pause, be still or reflect on how she was feeling . The objectives were clear and there was no judgement on her or me being a mother, just an understanding on why my daughter is where she is at, where she has been on her journey and what is needed to help her to get to where she needs to be.
In order for my daughter to move forward Nadine set realistic goals for each session and for the immediate future with the aim of working towards self worth and a belief that the world really is her oyster. By the end of our time with Nadine my daughter was motivated and empowered to make a change in her life for the better and felt safe in knowing that she could leave me to live her life and that I’m ok.
By the end of our time with Nadine my daughter was motivated and empowered to make a change in her life for the better
I am pleased to say that my daughter is in a good place and studying hard at university. This achievement is because my daughter wanted the help. The failing as a parent would have been to do nothing at all.
Our saving grace was the day I picked up the phone to call Nadine and accepted the services she provided as a therapist to my daughter.
We are forever grateful to Nadine and would recommend her therapy, way of practice and interventions as a recipe for a good life.
